Where Cinema
Happens
The 8th FIC Luanda takes place in seven venues across Luanda. The Cinemateca Nacional, with three screening rooms, is the festival's main venue. Screenings, masterclasses and debates also take place at the Cineteatro Nacional, Cinemax Fortaleza, Camões, the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, the Centro de Ciência de Luanda and Largo do Kinaxixi.
Cinemateca Nacional
The festival’s main venue, with three rooms and sessions on all six days. It hosts the opening session (28 Oct), competition screenings, masterclasses, the LuaLab industry programme and workshops, and the awards ceremony and closing session (2 Nov).
Cineteatro Nacional
Screenings of national and international competition films and non-competitive showcases, from 29 Oct to 2 Nov.
Cinemax Fortaleza
Cinemax, at Shopping Fortaleza, hosts screenings of competition films and the Brazil showcase, from 30 Oct to 1 Nov.
Centro de Ciência de Luanda
Short films and non-competitive showcases, including a Kia’ndengue session, on 29 Oct and 1 Nov.
Instituto Guimarães Rosa
Brazil showcase and competition screenings on 29 and 30 Oct, plus a masterclass on Nigerian cinema.
Centro Cultural de Camões
Screenings on 29, 30 and 31 Oct, plus round tables on new voices of Angolan cinema, documentary film and acting.
Largo do Kinaxixi
Evening screenings from 19h00 between 29 Oct and 1 Nov, and a closing session with the award-winning films on 2 Nov.
